Our Committee

Preserving the past while keeping Old City Hall at the heart of Bordentown City’s community life. The Old City Hall Restoration Committee is a volunteer committee dedicated to caring for this historic 1888 building, supporting its continued improvement, and ensuring it remains a welcoming place for community gatherings, arts, music, events, and shared experiences.

Historic Stewardship

Historic preservation in Bordentown City is often powered by volunteers who care deeply about the places that tell our community’s story. Our role is to advocate for these historic resources, identify preservation needs, support restoration projects and fundraising efforts, and work with the City and qualified professionals to help protect these places for future generations.

Building Improvements

Historic preservation is a community effort. Volunteers, local organizations, City officials, historians, and preservation professionals each bring different knowledge and experience to the work of protecting Bordentown City’s historic places.

Community Events

Old City Hall comes alive through events that bring people through its doors. Our annual train show, performances by professional musicians, art exhibitions, theater productions, community gatherings, and special programs create opportunities to experience this historic building as an active and vibrant part of Bordentown today.

Volunteer Commitment

Our volunteers give their time, energy, and talents to support Old City Hall—from planning events and fundraising to advocating for restoration projects and caring for this historic community landmark.

In 2026, the Old City Hall Restoration Committee hosted its first Community Day, bringing together City committees and local residents for a community meet-and-greet. The event provided an opportunity to meet committee volunteers, learn more about their work, and discover ways to get involved in volunteer activities throughout the community.

L-R: Kathy Devlin, Leon Brodowski, John Brodowski and Sruti Desai

In 2025, Leon Brodowski and his wife, Kathy Devlin, generously donated handmade, life-size wooden soldiers and Christmas carolers to Old City Hall for display at the front of the building during the holiday season. Leon, who passed away on May 15, 2026, clearly took great pride in his craftsmanship, and we are grateful that Old City Hall was chosen as a home for these special pieces.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Leon’s son, John Brodowski, and his wife, Sruti Desai, Bordentown City residents, for thinking of Old City Hall and helping bring Leon’s work to our community.

As a community gathering comes to a close on a winter evening, the warm light of Old City Hall reminds us of its place at the heart of Bordentown.
